1946, Second Edition.  251 pgs.  Book size:  6.5 x 8.5.  Name:  Watkins Salad Book.  Watkins was originally a door-to-door spice company (famous for its cinnamon and vanilla) but also sold a lot of household and personal products.  Origin is Winona, Minnesota.  You can find Watkins products today online, at country fairs and shows.  The chapters are:  Green Salads, Fruit Salads, Molded or Gelatin Salads, Frozen Salads, Vegetable Salads, Meat Salads, Chicken Salads, Fish Salads, Cheese Salads, Egg Salads, Salad Buffet, French Dressing, Mayonnaise Salad Dressing, Cooked Salad Dressing, Miscellaneous Salad Dressings, Sandwiches, Canapes, Appetizers, Hors d'Oeuvres, Beverages and American and French Desserts.  It incorporates its products into the recipes too.  To whomever buys this book, check out the coffee section starting on pg. 204.  Having grown up in a German/Scandinavian area, I remember well the women in the kitchen (church, clubs, weddings etc.)  putting either eggs or eggshells in the coffee grounds.  Different cooks did it differently.  On pg. 205, it explains the process.  This takes out the acidity and it makes delicious coffee.  Isn't that recycling?  Also check out the Cooked Salad Dressing chapter starting on pg. 154.  My Mom made her own, and I recently started to do that again.  Much healthier--you will see what I mean.  The reading pages are all black & white, show some aging but are in great vintage condition.  There are a few pencils checks marking favorite recipes.   When you open the book, there is one colored picture of a vintage salad.  The front and back covers are also in great vintage condition.  Do you remember when Home Economics was taught in schools?  This falls under that category and is educating.  FREE SHIPPING,  Total = $15.00.
